Turkish Airlines marks 15 years in Bangladesh with half marathon
The presence of Turkish Airlines demonstrates the importance of long-term connectivity partnerships between Bangladesh and global markets
Turkish Airlines marked its 15th anniversary of serving Bangladesh by backing the Turkish Airlines Half Marathon 2026. The event, held in capital’s Hatirjheel, attracted roughly 5,000 participants from Bangladesh and abroad, reports the Travel and Tour World.
ActivePulse, a fitness and sports event platform, organised the race that combined a focus on physical well-being with the airline’s anniversary celebrations, focused its long-standing links between Bangladesh, Türkiye and destinations across its international network.
Islam Gure, general manager of Turkish Airlines, attended the event as chief guest and spoke about the airline’s relationship with Bangladesh beyond its aviation operations.
He said the carrier’s 15-year presence has been centred not only on-air connectivity but also on bringing people and cultures closer, strengthening relationships and creating opportunities.
He also thanked government agencies, business partners, organisers, volunteers and participants for their contributions to the event.
Among those attending were Group Captain Ragib Samad, executive director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport; İrem Çelik of the Turkish Embassy in Dhaka; Harun Ortaç of United Aygaz LPG; Osman Çelik of Singer Beko Bangladesh; Turkish Cargo manager Mohammad Arif Hossain Khan; and Turkish Airlines officials Semih Kulcu and Yusuf Saritac.
