Sakhawat Hossain new primary and mass education secy
The appointment is expected to bring momentum to the ministry’s administrative activities as his experience will play an important role in implementing ongoing programmes and improving the quality of education
Md Sakhawat Hossain has been appointed as the new secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. He has replaced Secretary Abu Taher Md Masud Rana. The disclosure was made in a notification issued on Monday (21 April). Earlier, Sakhawat had been serving as additional secretary of the same ministry.
Sources concerned said the appointment is expected to bring momentum to the ministry’s administrative activities. They also believe his experience will play an important role in implementing ongoing programmes and improving the quality of education in the sector, says a press release.
Meanwhile, primary and mass education officers have welcomed this new secretary, expecting a positive change in the sector.
Primary education officers Rafiqul Islam Rumi and Abdus Salam hailed the new secretary, saying: “We extend our sincere congratulations and best wishes to him on his appointment as Education Secretary. We hope that under his experience, wisdom and leadership, further progress will be made in the country’s education system.”
Improving the quality of education, expanding technology-based learning and taking effective steps to develop students’ skills are very important at present. “We believe his forward-looking decisions and initiatives will open new horizons in the education sector.”
The officials said the new secretary's contribution to the development of the country’s education system is expected to be memorable.
It is noted that Secretary Masud Rana has been transferred to the Ministry of Food.
