The government has undertaken multiple programmes at state level to observe July Mass Uprising Day 2026 with due dignity and enthusiasm on Wednesday (August 5). The programmes have been finalised at an inter-ministerial meeting at the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman are scheduled to issue separate messages marking the day. The PM will inaugurate the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum at 9:00 am on August 5.
Wreaths will be placed at July martyrs' memorials in all 64 districts across the country the same day, according to a handout issued by the Press Information Department (PID) on Tuesday.
Newspapers will publish special supplements, articles, literary features and magazines to mark the occasion.

At 11:00 am, a reception for the families of July martyrs and July fighters, along with a discussion on the significance of the day, will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka. The President is expected to attend the programme as the chief guest.
On July 30, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organised the unveiling of publications on the July Mass Uprising, a photo exhibition and a discussion at Tathya Bhaban.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attended the function as the chief guest, while Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan presided over the programme.
Reception programmes for the families of the July martyrs and July fighters, along with discussions on the significance of the day, will also be organised in all districts across the country.
Rare documentary photographs and documentaries presenting objective and impartial accounts of the July movement will be displayed in Dhaka and all other city corporations across the country.
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, private television channels, private radio stations, FM and community radio stations will broadcast special programmes, including discussion sessions on the July Mass Uprising.
Educational institutions across the country will organise discussions on the significance of the day, as well as essay writing, recitation and drawing competitions.
Bangladesh missions abroad will also organise discussion programmes to mark the occasion.
Religious institutions across the country will organise special munajat and prayers after Zuhr prayers or at a convenient time the same day.
Major roads and traffic islands in Dhaka and other cities across the country will be decorated with the national flag, banners, festoons and colourful pennants. July memorials will also be illuminated. A commemorative postage stamp will be issued to mark the day.
Government, private and autonomous museums will remain open to the public free of charge from morning until evening on the day.
All government and private recreational facilities across the country will remain open to children from morning until evening with free admission.
Special meals will be arranged at all government hospitals, prisons, government children's homes, child rehabilitation centres, disability welfare centres, day-care and child development centres, and shelters for the homeless across the country to mark the observance.
