Govt approves Jet A-1 fuel import for June, August
The approvals were granted at the 26th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday
The government has approved the import of various petroleum products, including Jet A-1 fuel, to ensure an uninterrupted fuel supply across the country during the June-August 2026 period.
The approvals were granted at the 26th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) held at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday, with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair, reports state news agency BSS.
According to officials, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division placed four separate procurement proposals before the committee for the import of Gas Oil, Jet A-1 fuel, Furnace Oil and Octane through international open tenders.
Under the approved proposals, Singapore-based Unipec Singapore Private Limited will supply Gas Oil with 0.005 per cent sulphur content and Jet A-1 fuel under Package-1 at an estimated cost of Tk 7,672.664 crore.
Officials said the procurement of diesel and aviation fuel from separate suppliers would help diversify the supply chain and reduce the risk of disruptions in fuel imports.
The imports are intended to meet growing domestic demand and keep the country's energy market on an even keel.
