Call for viable PPP-based aviation, tourism projects
Minister Afroza Khanam said the potential and future development prospects of projects must be considered during their formulation in line with the Prime Minister’s directives

The government has stressed the need to consider project viability, future growth potential, public engagement and public-private partnership (PPP) models while formulating development projects in the civil aviation and tourism sectors.
The emphasis came at a review meeting on ongoing projects and new projects included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the 2026–27 fiscal year under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, says a press release.
The meeting was held at the ministry's conference room at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka on Monday. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam, State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat and Planning State Minister Md Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki attended the meeting.
Minister Afroza Khanam said the potential and future development prospects of projects must be considered during their formulation in line with the Prime Minister’s directives.
She said projects should complement one another and ensure effective interaction and engagement with local communities in the areas where they are implemented.
The minister also urged officials to be more proactive and complete ongoing projects within the stipulated timeframe.
State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat said project formulation should take into account the election manifesto of the current democratic government.
“Instead of relying directly on government funding, we should try to implement projects under the public-private partnership model,” he said.
He also stressed the need to ensure that people benefit from the development projects and experience the positive changes promised by the government.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the Ministry of Planning and relevant agencies attended the meeting.
