Bangladesh urges Lithuania to open visa centre

Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kobir on Monday urged Lithuania to recruit more skilled workers from Bangladesh and establish a visa centre in Dhaka to facilitate visa processing for intended Bangladeshi citizens.

He made the call when Lithuania’s non-resident ambassador to Bangladesh, Diana Mickeviciene, paid a courtesy call on him at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, according to a foreign ministry press release.

During the meeting, both sides discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, trade and investment, education, information technology, skilled manpower and the proposed establishment of a Lithuanian visa centre in Dhaka.

Highlighting a pool of skilled and trained workers of his country, Kobir urged Lithuania to increase recruitment from here.

He also requested the Lithuanian side to establish a visa centre in Dhaka to make the visa application process easier and more accessible for Bangladeshi citizens.

The adviser appreciated Lithuania’s continued engagement and cooperation with Bangladesh and stressed the potential for further expanding bilateral ties.

Meanwhile, the Lithuanian envoy expressed her country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Bangladesh, particularly in the education sector.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Bangladesh-Lithuania relations and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
