Air Astra doubles fleet to 6 aircraft
The airline also mentioned preparations were underway to launch international flights alongside expanding its domestic network
Air Astra has doubled its aircraft fleet in just over three months. With the addition of its third and newest ATR 72-600, the airline’s total fleet has increased to six aircraft.
The new aircraft arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on September 30. Registered as S2-STF, the aircraft is powered by the latest Pratt & Whitney PW127XT engines and has 72 seats.
Air Astra said two other new ATR 72-600 aircraft had previously been added to its fleet. The addition of the latest aircraft will increase the airline’s capacity to operate on domestic routes while creating opportunities to provide passengers with more comfortable services.
Air Astra Chief Executive Officer Imran Asif said the addition of the third new ATR 72-600 was an important milestone. He said the airline had doubled its fleet to six aircraft in just over three months, describing the achievement as a reflection of the dedication and hard work of Air Astra’s employees and the trust of its passengers and partners.
Air Astra also mentioned preparations were underway to launch international flights alongside expanding its domestic network. The airline is in the process of adding narrow-body aircraft to its fleet for international operations. It aims to launch international flights in the first quarter of 2027, subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals and completing operational preparations.
