3 Bangladeshi youths return home serving jail term in India
Repatriated via Benapole after sentence in Kerala for illegal entry; return facilitated through joint diplomatic efforts and travel permits

Three Bangladeshi youths have returned home after serving one year in prison in India’s Kerala state for illegal entry, officials said.
They were handed over to Benapole Checkpost Immigration Police by Indian authorities at Petrapole on Tuesday night (March 31) around 11:00pm, reports Jagonews.
According to relevant sources, the repatriation was made possible through coordinated efforts involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, and a West Bengal taskforce on preventing women and child trafficking.
The returnees were identified as Ramzan Mallik from Kolinagar village, and Jaber Hossain and Asaduzzaman Gazi from Gobindapur village under Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira district.
They had entered India illegally at different times.
After completing their prison sentences, the three were kept in a safe home in Kerala. They were later repatriated following verification of their nationality and issuance of travel permits.
Shafiqul Islam, an official of Justice and Care working in Benapole, said the youths had travelled to Kerala through brokers in search of better job opportunities. They were arrested by Indian police for illegal stay and later sentenced to one year in jail.
Upon completion of their sentence, they were sent back to Bangladesh. After completing necessary immigration and legal formalities, they were handed over to their families.
Benapole Immigration Police Inspector Syed Mortuza Ali said the returnees were processed under travel permit procedures and subsequently handed over to Benapole Port Police Station for further formalities.
