Spain eyes bigger tourism boost in Bangladesh

Spain has expressed strong interest in expanding its investment and commercial engagement in the tourism sector of Bangladesh.
The country is also interested to increase investment in renewable energy, infrastructure, technology and other promising sectors besides expanding cooperation with Bangladesh, according to a press release issued on Thursday (June 18).
The interest was conveyed by Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh, María Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru, when she paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser, Humaiun Kobir, at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon area.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen and diversify the friendly bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Spain, with particular emphasis on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, renewable energy, infrastructure development, tourism, agriculture, education, technology and skilled human resource development.
The ambassador highly appreciated Bangladesh's ongoing economic progress, investment-friendly environment and strategic geographical location.
She expressed Spain's interest in enhancing investment and business ties with Bangladesh, especially in the manufacturing sector, renewable energy projects, infrastructure development and technology-based industries.
The envoy also discussed opportunities to strengthen collaboration between the private sectors of the two countries to unlock new avenues for trade and investment.
Kobir welcomed Spanish investors to explore opportunities in Bangladesh, highlighting the growing economic and development partnership between the two countries.
He said Bangladesh has emerged as a stable and promising destination for foreign investment and reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring a conducive environment for investors.
The adviser underscored the importance of deepening economic cooperation to further strengthen bilateral relations and create mutually beneficial opportunities.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation on issues of mutual interest and expressing optimism about taking Bangladesh-Spain relations to a new level.
