On the first day of assuming office, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita on Wednesday said the government is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability and effective service delivery in the aviation sector through close coordination with officials and stakeholders.

“We have come to cooperate with you, and we expect your sincere cooperation in return. Through collective efforts, we want to make the activities of this ministry dynamic and effective in the public interest,” she said while addressing an introductory meeting with ministry officials and journalists, organised at the conference room of the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry at the Secretariat in the capital.

Rita, along with State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat, formally joined the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, where officials and employees of the ministry and its subordinate agencies welcomed the new leadership at a reception held in the ministry.

The minister stressed the need to establish good governance, transparency and accountability in all the activities of the ministry and its affiliated organisations.

In his remarks, Millat reiterated the pledges outlined in the new government’s election manifesto, particularly safeguarding the interests of expatriates and enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
