International flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have been severely disrupted due to airspace closures across several Middle Eastern countries amid ongoing security tensions.

Airport sources said a total of 797 flights were cancelled between February 28 and March 27, as the crisis continued for several weeks, reports checkinbd.net.

Countries including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan have temporarily shut their airspace, forcing airlines to cancel flights on routes connected to Dhaka.

On Friday (March 27) alone, 22 flights were cancelled. These included four flights by Kuwait Airways, six by Air Arabia, two by Gulf Air, four by Qatar Airways, two by Emirates and four by Jazeera Airways.

Officials said uncertainty in flight schedules may persist until the regional situation stabilises.
