Jet fuel prices surge by 80% in Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission has decided to significantly increase jet fuel prices in Bangladesh, raising rates by nearly 80% in a single move.
The new prices were announced on Tuesday by the commission following an emergency virtual meeting, says a press release.
According to the release, under the revised rates, the price of jet fuel for domestic flights has been increased from Tk112.41 per litre to Tk202.29 per litre. This increase of Tk89.88 per litre is equivalent to an 80% increase.
For international flights, the price has been raised from $0.7384 per litre to $1.3216 per litre, an increase of nearly 79%.
Officials said the decision was made during an emergency virtual meeting held earlier in the day. The new prices will come into effect from Tuesday midnight.
