Popular Bangladeshi actress Bidya Sinha Mim has named Bangkok as her favourite travel destination, saying the Thai capital continues to offer the perfect blend of relaxation, affordability and scenic beauty.

An avid traveller, Mim said she frequently explores new destinations and recently returned from a trip to China, reports Prothom Alo.

However, among all the places she has visited, Bangkok holds a special place. “It’s hard to pick just one favourite, but Bangkok has truly won my heart,” she said.

According to the actress, the destination appeals to her for several reasons, including easy access to diverse food options, ample opportunities for leisure and travel, and its pristine coastal environment.

She particularly highlighted the beachfront bungalows, where guests can step directly onto the shore. “You step out of your bungalow and the sea is right there. I haven’t experienced that anywhere else,” she noted.

Mim also pointed to the affordability of the destination as a major factor behind her frequent visits. “It doesn’t require much planning. Whenever I feel like it, I just go,” she added.

She first visited Bangkok around 2011 or 2012 and has returned almost every year since—sometimes as many as three to four times annually. “I’ve already been once this year, and I could go again anytime,” she said.

Reflecting on her experiences, Mim shared several memorable moments from her trips. One such occasion was a surprise birthday celebration for her husband, Sony Poddar, shortly after their marriage.

“We were on a yacht in the middle of the sea. He had no idea I had planned a surprise,” she recalled.

She also recounted an adventurous scuba diving experience in deep waters, describing a mix of excitement and fear. “The pressure underwater was intense. I was nervous, but my husband was even more scared,” she said with a smile.

Despite visiting Bangkok more than 30 times, Mim said her affection for the destination remains unchanged. She believes the city has retained its charm over the years, with fresh food, clean air and quality services still intact. While facilities have improved, she noted that costs have not risen significantly, keeping the destination within a reasonable budget.

However, she observed that traffic congestion has worsened compared to previous years.

For Mim, Bangkok remains more than just a travel destination—it is a place she can return to anytime, without a second thought.
