Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury has pledged to take concrete steps to prevent the harassment of expatriates at airports and address the issues they face.
Speaking to journalists at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet during his first visit to his constituency after assuming office, the minister emphasized the government's commitment to supporting migrant workers.
Chowdhury said that, upon taking charge, he engaged with expatriates at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to gain insight into the challenges they encounter.
The minister assured that immediate initiatives would be implemented to tackle these concerns, with special focus on curbing fraud targeting aspiring migrant workers.
“We will introduce special monitoring systems to protect migrant workers from any form of exploitation,” Chowdhury continued, “Problems will be identified, and necessary actions will be taken to resolve them. Through collective effort, we hope to advance the country’s progress.”
Reaffirming his inclusive approach, the Sylhet-4 lawmaker said, "We will not adopt a hostile attitude towards anyone. Our priority is to resolve the issues of expatriates and work together for the betterment of the nation."
