US Embassy warns visa holders of possible permanent travel ban
The embassy said the duration and conditions of a traveller's stay are determined by an immigration officer at the US port of entry, rather than by the visa itself
The US Embassy in Dhaka has reminded visa holders that having a valid US visa does not guarantee entry into the United States, warning that violations of visa terms could lead to a permanent travel ban.
In a notice posted on its verified Facebook page on Saturday, 26 September, the embassy said the duration and conditions of a traveller's stay are determined by an immigration officer at the US port of entry, rather than by the visa itself.
'If you remain in the United States beyond your authorised period of stay or engage in activities not permitted under your visa category, you could face a permanent ban on travelling to the United States in the future,' the notice said.
It added in bold: 'It is your responsibility to use your visa correctly.'
The embassy's post, published in both English and Bengali, comes amid heightened scrutiny of visa compliance by US authorities.
