Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau is set to host its first-ever tourism roadshow in Dhaka, aiming to strengthen its presence in Bangladesh and attract more travellers from the growing market.

The two-day event, scheduled for April 5–6, will feature a media networking session followed by a business-to-business (B2B) roadshow and networking programme, designed to deepen tourism ties between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, reports itvbd.com.

Officials said the initiative is part of a broader strategy to position Sri Lanka as a preferred destination for Bangladeshi tourists by showcasing its diverse offerings, including leisure travel, cultural heritage, wellness tourism, and adventure experiences.

The media networking session on April 5 will bring together representatives from more than 40 leading Bangladeshi media outlets.

Organisers hope the engagement will boost positive coverage and enhance awareness of Sri Lanka’s tourism potential among local audiences.

On April 6, the main roadshow and B2B networking event will connect around 150 Bangladeshi travel agents and tour operators with Sri Lankan industry stakeholders. The platform is expected to facilitate direct discussions, foster new partnerships, and encourage investment and collaboration in the tourism sector.

The Sri Lankan delegation will be led by Buddhika Hewawasam, Chairman of the tourism promotion bureau, accompanied by Assistant Director for South Asia Shirani Herath. Representatives from 19 leading Sri Lankan tourism organisations are also expected to participate.

Industry insiders say Bangladesh has emerged as an important source market for Sri Lanka. In 2025, a total of 59,563 Bangladeshi tourists visited the island nation, accounting for around 3% of its total international arrivals. The trend appears to be continuing, with 11,079 Bangladeshi travellers visiting Sri Lanka as of March 31, 2026.

Officials believe the Dhaka roadshow will help further strengthen Sri Lanka’s foothold in Bangladesh, while building long-term relationships with media and travel trade partners and boosting outbound tourism in the coming years.
