A total of 16 international flights were cancelled at Shah Amanat International Airport over the past seven days, although flight operations are now gradually returning to normal following a ceasefire in the Middle East, airport authorities said in a press release.

According to the press release, the cancellations occurred between April 18 and April 24 across several airlines.

Among them, Biman Bangladesh Airlines cancelled one inbound and two outbound flights from Middle Eastern routes, while US-Bangla Airlines cancelled one outbound flight.

Air Arabia accounted for eight cancellations-four arrivals and four departures-while SalamAir cancelled two inbound and two outbound flights.

Airport officials said that after the ceasefire, international routes to Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are gradually regaining normal operations. Flight services on the Chattogram-Doha route have also resumed, with full normalcy expected soon.

Data from the airport shows that since February 28, a total of 338 international flights have been cancelled due to the Middle East conflict, including 16 in the past week alone.

Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil said stability is slowly returning to international flight operations, and relevant agencies are working in coordination to minimise passenger inconvenience.
